Program Locations

Typical Itinerary

Gap Year Language Teaching Assistants spend their weekdays assisting the language department of their host school. Whether in primary, middle, or high schools, interns will move from circulating the classroom to help students with comprehension, pronunciation, and communication to preparing cultural presentations, projects, and activities that are age appropriate. Language Assistants may be asked to chaperone school trips to nearby locations and/or countries.

Room and board in a local host family are included in the program fee & interns receive a monthly stipend of $450-$550.

During the evening, on weekends and during school breaks interns can explore their host city, travel, spend time with their host family, and participate in community activities. Language assistants can take classes at their host school or a nearby high school and may be able to audit classes at a nearby university.

Language Homestay participants (2-12 weeks) agree to teach English in a local French host family for 15 hours/week in exchange for room, board, and cultural immersion. During free time, participants are free to explore and get involved in the local community.

Staff Training and Certification

Andégo's staff are or have been French teachers in public education for over a decade and have extensive training and knowledge in language education. We are constantly learning and growing to continue to better support our participants. Having lived and taught in the US and abroad has led us to want to extend opportunities for others to experience other cultures and anchor language skills for the foreseeable future.

Our French partners have been in the field of immersive educational exchanges for over 40 years! They have an extensive network of volunteers and allow us to work with some of the best schools in France.

Together we create a team of support around you. From Andégo in the US, to our partners in France and their local volunteers, your host school's principal, supervising teacher, other language teachers, your host family, and other Andégo interns, you'll have a tremendous amount of support as you grow over the course of the year.
