About

Mission
The Outreach Committee assists with communication, social media initiatives and other public-facing strategies on behalf of GYA and its Members. The biggest effort is organizing Gap Year Exploration Month in October, an annual awareness month that brings together students, educators, and counselors who want to share the many benefits of an intentional gap year.

Goal for 2023: Build on the success of Gap Year Exploration Month (GYEM) 2022 with strategic initiatives in media outreach and gap year messaging.

Past work and achievements: Organizing GYEM 2019-2022

Get involved: People with an interest in strategic communication and enthusiasm for spreading information about the gap year option are encouraged to join this committee. Email outreach@gapyearassociation.org to find out more!

Meetings: Second Thursday of every month
